STOP MASSIVE 1,125 DEVELOPMENT BY ABBOTS ROAD
The Lib Dem team is standing by the decision to reject plans for 1,125 homes behind Abbots Road. Matthew Pennycook, the Minister for Housing and Local Government, has told Three Rivers Council to pause it’s Local Plan for 7,027 new homes over 15 years. The government wants almost 13,000 new homes which would threaten our Green Belt. The Local Plan is vital for protecting our area. It: 1. Prevents inappropriate development in the Green Belt, including the proposal for 1,125 homes behind Abbots Road. These would cause actual harm to openness remove all the Green Belt behind Abbots Road to the motorway. 2. Keeps 73% of the district as Green Belt 3. Focuses development in sustainable locations rather than on open countryside - the suggested Abbots Road development would require a whole new road to be built!
